Still All Over The Place

George Dus — Thu, 01 Oct 2026 01:13:08 GMT

In 2015, I started a WordPress blog with a warning: “I might be all over the place in terms of various topics, just like I do in person.” A year later, life got busy, and the blog went quiet for almost ten years.

This week, I moved everything over from the old WordPress site and reread it all. Two things jumped out. Some of those posts still apply today, which is a little tragic. Toronto traffic didn’t fix itself. And I’m still all over the place.

What’s changed? Pretty much everything else. I’ve got 30 years in IT now and still consulting. I read tarot professionally, at fairs and markets across Ontario and one-on-one. I produce podcasts through Dus Media: 4 shows, with another on the way. I’m organizing a psychic fair for 2027. I’m taking courses to sharpen my practice. The bag of old mixtapes I found back in 2016, which I put online, and mounds of CDs are still waiting to be transferred.

Yes, that’s a lot. Some days it’s juggling, some days it’s dropping balls. I really need to hire an assistant.

What hasn’t changed: I still have an opinion on almost everything, and I’m still more interested in pointing you in the right direction than pretending I have all the answers.

Some things I said back then have aged a little too well. In 2016 I wrote that streaming would replace downloading music.

TV would go fully on-demand and come full circle, with us paying a few dollars a month to sit through commercials again.

Every streamer has an ad tier now. That February I noted Britain was showing its intent to leave the EU, four months before the Brexit vote, and that both US front-runners wanted to tear up trade deals and turn protectionist.

A month later I wrote that globalization was ending. That robots would take over factory work, and that Canadians should start backing local and buying Made in Canada.

Ten years on, it's all front-page news. I didn’t get everything right: I called a global recession that year, and it never came.

The cards have their own track record. Before the 2025 federal election, I pulled spreads on Dusrupted for Canada and both leaders. Pierre Poilievre drew Planned Collapse, then lost his own seat. Mark Carney drew Uprising Rebellion, and Alberta is now openly talking about leaving.

Ten months later, I went back and checked every card.

Canada swapped prime ministers—but did the operating system change, or just the wallpaper? Ten months after the votes were counted, the tarot spreads and the data are both pointing at an uncomfortable answer…

The cards don’t decide anything, but sometimes they see it coming before the headlines do. It’s all in the archives if you want to check my work.

This is home base. Everything I do branches off from here, so this is where you’ll get the whole picture: the behind-the-scenes of trying to run all of it without losing my mind, what I’m learning along the way, and whatever else I can’t stop thinking about.

Here’s what you’ll find:

Mixes: my mixtapes from the late 80s and 90s, digitized from the original cassettes, plus the story of how a bedroom DJ ended up with tapes travelling across the country. The CD mixes will land here as I get through them.

Musings: politics, tech, media and city life. Some of it written ten years ago and still holding up.

Mysticism: tarot, astrology, numerology, spirit animals, and the things I can’t quite explain.

And if you’re here for one thing in particular, each part has its own home:

Dus Tarot: Tarotscopes every Friday, plus the Dus Tarot Podcast

Spirit of Business: tarot, astrology and numerology for business owners

The Tarot Talk Show: craft and honest shop-talk for tarot readers

Spirit of Dating: dating through a spiritual lens

Dusrupted: deeper takes on world events

Dus Media: the network behind all the shows, and what goes on behind the mic

Dus Consulting: practical IT for small businesses and professional offices

Dus Events: the psychic fair and other events as they’re announced

And coming soon, The Zen Architect Show, about managing the person holding the device.

Bear with me while these other publications get built out. Some are brand new and still finding their feet, so subscribe to the ones that catch your eye, and you'll hear from them as they come to life.

Until next time.
